GARDN-NEC-21-ATM PROJECT -FINAL REPORT

The goal of the ATM Project was to assess the potential of producing biojet fuels using thermochemical liquefaction technologies and woody biomass as a feedstock. One of the most likely long-term supplies of biojet will come from woody biomass and using thermochemical technologies such as gasification and pyrolysis (the latter being broadly defined as thermochemical liquefaction in order to include hydrothermal liquefaction and other variations such as catalytic pyrolysis). 

GREENER CANADIAN AEROSPACE - A LOOK TOWARD 2030

This study assessed, in a standardized way and based on selected relevant environmental metrics, the potential environmental benefits of the technologies developed as part of the GARDN projects.

GARDN'S PROJECT REPORT - CAAFCER

In 2017, the NRC undertook GARDN project CAAFCER, Civil Aviation Alternate Fuels Contrails and Emissions Research, in conjunction with Air Canada, The Waterfall Group, The University of Alberta, SkyNRG, and The Boeing Company, with the scientific objective of comparing the characteristics of persistent contrails formed from petroleum jet fuel and biofuel.
