The Green Aviation Research and Development Network will cease its activities on March 31st, 2021, as announced during its special AGM held on the 19th of March, 2021.
Since 2009, GARDN has played a pioneering role in the green aviation sector, including sustainable aviation fuels, by creating a collaborative industry research consortia. GARDN has worked for over a decade to promote cleaner, quieter and more sustainable aviation in Canada. This not-for-profit organization was created to establish a pan-Canadian reputation for the Canadian aerospace industry within the sustainable aerospace sector, which we believe is something we have achieved.
The two programs combined, GARDN I (2009-2014) and GARDN II (2014-2020), have funded approximately 30 R&D projects representing a total value of $70 million in the following themes: noise reduction, gas emission reduction, manufacturing materials and processes, airport operations, aircraft operations, alternative fuels and product life cycle management.
Through our values of collaboration, innovation, agility and performance, we are proud of the work we have contributed to the industry both nationally and internationally.
We want to thank all of our partners, collaborators, committee members, and the GARDN team for the hard work and passion they have dedicated to reducing the environmental footprint of Canadian aviation.
We look forward to continue seeing strong growth within the sustainable aerospace industry, something that we have consistently witnessed during our decade-long service.
Save the date: GARDN’s AGM and closing event will be held on June 18, 2021. The event will be an opportunity to look back on GARDN’s accomplishments and prosperity. More information will follow.
